Operations system for forestry contractors

Your machine data,put to work.

Forest Fleet gives the contractor a complete, real-time view of the economics of every job. Machine data is collected automatically, whatever the brand, and shows where the costs are, which jobs are struggling and where there is money to save — early enough to act on it. Time logging, HSE/QA and invoicing data live in the same system — you choose which parts to use.

areas: machine data, hours, HSE, finance and your own data

Where you start

The data already exists.
It just lives in five different places.

Each machine sends production figures to its manufacturer's own portal. Timesheets live in text messages. The HSE binder is in the truck. The invoicing basis you work out in your head on Sunday evening. Forest Fleet brings it together.

Without a shared system

  • ✕Production figures in one portal per brand — no overall view of the fleet.
  • ✕Operating cost is worked out by hand, often after the job is done.
  • ✕Hours are written on paper and typed in again before invoicing.
  • ✕Periodic machine inspections and internal controls are kept in your head — until someone asks for the paperwork.
  • ✕The forest owner's report is built from scratch every time.

With Forest Fleet

  • →Every machine in one overview, regardless of brand or age.
  • →Your own price lists are loaded. Operating cost and margin per team are calculated while the job is running.
  • →Staff log hours straight against forest owner and site, from their phone.
  • →The system flags inspections and tasks before the deadline passes.
  • →Production reports for the client and forest owner are generated automatically.

Feature areas

Five areas, one system.

You don't have to start with everything at once. Most start with machine data and production, then add HSE and invoicing over time.

Machine data and production

Data is collected automatically from the machines and combined across brands. You see what each machine actually produces — per hour, per shift, per site.

  • Cubic metres and trees per hour
  • Harvester and forwarder in one picture: felled, forwarded and what is still lying in the forest
  • Diesel, HVO and CO₂ per job, machine and year
  • Your price lists give operating cost
  • Machine position and machine tracks on the map
  • Harvest area as GeoJSON for EUDR — straight from the machine track
  • Ponsse, John Deere, Komatsu, Rottne, Eco Log

Hours and crew

Staff record hours against forest owner and site while in the field. The data is already sorted when it's time to invoice.

  • Time logging against owner and site
  • Overview per employee and per project
  • Flows straight into invoicing data

The machine sends in the numbers itself.

HSE, quality and compliance

Complete internal control that follows you through the year, with reminders of what needs doing to stay current.

  • Incident handling
  • Safety data sheets and job safety analysis
  • Periodic machine inspections per current regulations
  • Reminders under the Norwegian internal control regulation
  • Wildfire risk alerts with consultation form

Finance and invoicing

Revenue from the price lists is set against hours and production, so you see what each job and team actually keeps — and the invoicing data is ready for your accounts.

  • Contribution margin per job in NOK/m³ — measured against the estimate
  • Invoice basis as PDF, CSV and Excel — payroll basis to Excel
  • Costs per machine, job and team
  • Job report for buyer and forest owner — without prices

Your data — and what it can become

The machine data is yours, in one place, in a format you own. It is also the basis for letting a model suggest better operations as the history grows.

  • Full control of your own machine data
  • Service needs predicted from actual use
  • Suggested extraction routes that account for soft ground
  • A history that grows more valuable each season

What it looks like

Real screenshots, not mock-ups.

The office sees the whole fleet on one screen. The operator sees their own day on the phone. Both come from the same machine files.

One system

Forest Fleet replaces the software you already pay for.

Most contractors pay for four or five systems that don't talk to each other, and type the same numbers in two or three times. This is what goes away.

The manufacturer's machine portal

One production overview for the whole fleet, any brand

Spreadsheet for operating cost

Price lists are loaded — cost is calculated while the job runs

Time logging by text message and paper

Hours logged against owner and site from the phone

HSE binder and separate quality system

Incidents, safety analyses, chemical register and machine inspections in one system

Manual invoicing data

Volume, hours and prices sorted per job and period

Five subscriptions, five logins and double entry become one system — and the numbers agree because they come from the same place.

Who's behind it

Built by someone who has run a forestry contracting business

Forest Fleet is built to simplify the forestry contractor's administrative day. Fewer systems, less double entry — and the numbers in one place when you need them.

From machine to invoice

Three steps, then the rest runs itself.

Connect the machines

We set up your fleet in the system, whatever brands you run and however old they are. Your price lists go in at the same time.

Let the data come in

Production, fuel use and position are collected automatically while the machines run. Staff log hours against owner and site from their phone.

Take out what you need

Operating cost, forest owner report, HSE documentation and invoicing data are ready — without you doing any sums.

In the field

The operator has their own page. The forest owner has their own link.

What happens in the forest is recorded where it happens — and anyone wondering about progress can see it themselves, without calling.

Time loggingPay allowancesIncidents and safety analyses with photosWorks without coverageForest owner link by textMap where you stand

The operator portal

The operator's own page on the phone. Everything to be recorded during the day is done where the operator stands — in under a minute.

  • Time logging against owner and job
  • Tick boxes for pay allowances — only the ones the operator actually has
  • Incidents and safety analyses with photos, straight from the site
  • Progress on the job, and how much is still lying in the forest
  • Job map with machine tracks — draw points, lines and areas in your own colour
  • Service request with machine and urgency, and a dedicated HSE home with fire danger
  • Works without coverage — sent automatically when the network is back

The operator sees only their own team's jobs — never pay, prices or other people's numbers.

Sharing with the forest owner

You — or the operator, straight from the machine — send the forest owner a link by text. They open it in the browser, no app, no login.

  • Progress, harvested volume and assortments on their own job
  • Updates as the machines work
  • The link shows only that one job — nothing else
  • You decide, and can close the link at any time

Fewer "how far along are you?" calls — and a forest owner who recommends you.

The map in your pocket

The operator has the job map on the phone and on the machine PC: the machine track, own position and everything the team has recorded — and chooses which of the team's jobs the map shows.

  • Landing, rut damage, buffer zone and areas are drawn where the operator stands — in their own colour
  • The office sees the same map, and it goes into the job folder and the PDF
  • Map layers from the national mapping agencies, NIBIO and NVE: soil moisture, contours, slope, watercourses, property boundaries
  • The harvester's machine track shows where driving actually happened
  • The forwarder can stay on the previous job while the harvester is on the next

One record, one name, whoever entered it.

Machine market

Buy or sell a forest machine — across borders too

IQLog AS brokers used harvesters and forwarders from Norwegian contractors. We sell to everyone, with a particular focus on buyers abroad — and we handle transport, export, import and the phytosanitary certificate from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority for harvesters, so the deal is safe for both sides.

Who it's for

Built for the contractor. Useful for everyone around the job.

Contractor

You who own the machines

See what each machine earns and costs, set the right operating price before the job starts, and have the paperwork in order when someone asks.

Client

Forest owner and buyer

Get the production report automatically, with volume, assortments and progress on the site — without having to ask.

Operator

You who sit in the machine

Hours, safety analyses and incidents logged from the phone in under a minute. Wildfire alerts and consultation forms come to wherever you are.

Roadmap

The data keeps working for you.

Everything below is built on data the system already collects — with no extra entry and no new gadgets in the machine. What is marked done is in use today.

Done

CO₂ accounting per job

Diesel consumption is already in the machine data. The system converts it to litres and kilos of CO₂ per cubic metre — per job, per machine, per year.

  • The documentation industry and commons are starting to require
  • Win tenders where climate figures count — without a single extra entry
  • See which machines and jobs drive consumption
Done

Service at the right time

Warning before the service interval runs out, based on the machine's actual operating hours — not the calendar. The operator reports service needs with machine and urgency straight from the field app.

  • Next service calculated from real hour counts
  • Service history per machine in the register
  • Fewer stops in the middle of a job
In development

Trafficability on the extraction route

Soil moisture maps, recent rainfall and frost combine into one simple indicator per job: can the ground take traffic now, or should the job wait?

  • The right job at the right time — soft ground is taken on frost
  • Fewer rutting damages, less repair at your own expense
  • A professional answer when the owner asks "why are you waiting?"
  • The forest fire warning is already in place — per job, with a consultation form in the field app
In development

Suggested base road

Soil moisture, contour lines, environmental records and bearing capacity are layered — and the system suggests where the main extraction road should go, before the machines move in.

  • Plan the extraction at the desk, not at the landing
  • Avoid wet spots, steep slopes and key habitats from the start
  • Shorter driving per load — that's where the operating cost lives
In development

Sustainability report on its own

Environmental measures, buffer zones, rutting checks and climate figures are gathered throughout the job — and become a finished report per job, ready for PEFC audit.

  • The audit evidence the client needs, without paperwork
  • Documented environmental care = a safer licence to operate
  • The forest owner gets it in writing that the property was treated properly
Next step

Comparison

Productivity per machine type and operator group, anonymised, so you can see where there is something to gain.

  • Your own machines against each other, job by job
  • Diesel per cubic metre you can actually act on
  • Your numbers never leave your database

None of this asks anything new of you or the operators. It's the same machine data, put to work once more.

Questions

What people ask first.

Does it work with the machines I already have?

Yes. Forest Fleet reads the StanForD 2010 files your machines already produce, and today handles Ponsse, John Deere, Komatsu, Rottne and Eco Log in the same overview. If you run something else, send us a file from the machine — we'll see right away whether it can be read.

Who owns the machine data?

You do. The data from your machines is yours, kept in one place, and you can export it again.

Does this replace the HSE binder?

Yes. Incident handling, safety data sheets, job safety analyses and periodic machine inspections are in the system, and you get reminders of which tasks are due under the Norwegian internal control regulation.

Do I have to change accounting software?

No. You invoice in the accounting software you already have. Forest Fleet produces the basis: volume, hours and prices per job and period, ready to enter or export.

What do the operators have to learn?

Not much. Production data arrives by itself. What the operator does actively is log hours against owner and site, and occasionally report an incident or fill in a safety analysis — all from the phone.

What does it cost?

Get in touch for a quote or more information tailored to your fleet.
